The E! News App faced significant usability challenges and an outdated design that no longer resonated with modern user expectations or effectively engaged its fan base. Fans struggled to navigate the app smoothly and access the latest celebrity news, exclusive videos, and trending stories, impacting overall engagement and satisfaction. To address these issues, we collaborated with the E! design team to reimagine the app experience from the ground up. Our goal was to resolve usability barriers, introduce fresh design trends, and implement new features that would enhance how fans consume entertainment news, making it easy, enjoyable, and immersive to stay connected with their favourite celebrities.

News App. Next, we restructured the information architecture, simplifying navigation to ensure easy access to key content like breaking news, videos, and trending stories. We then gave the app a modern visual refresh, using bold imagery and clean typography to create an engaging, brand-consistent design. To enhance relevance, we introduced personalized content discovery that allows users to follow favourite celebrities and topics. With streamlined user flows, we integrated new features like notifications and curated sections for a seamless experience. We used iterative testing throughout, gathering feedback to continuously refine our design. Finally, we optimized the app for cross-device consistency, ensuring a smooth experience across mobile and tablet platforms, delivering an intuitive and visually captivating app for E! fans.

With the app hosting a wide range of media—from breaking news and articles to exclusive video content—we had to carefully prioritize which elements appeared on each screen to avoid overwhelming users while still delivering the content they valued most. Designing an intuitive navigation system in this multifaceted information architecture required numerous iterations to ensure that fans could seamlessly access trending stories and personalized feeds without feeling lost in a vast content landscape.

Creating a modern visual refresh that aligned with E!’s brand identity added another layer of complexity, as we needed to update the aesthetic while maintaining brand recognition. Integrating personalization features, such as customized feeds, without increasing cognitive load was also challenging; we needed these features to feel natural and user-friendly rather than cumbersome.
